For each of us, life is full of twists and turns that lead us on unexpected paths. It’s not so much about the bends in the road, as it is our perception of the road. One might enjoy the mountain roads, seeing each curve and hill as an unknown adventure leading to an amazing destination. Another might be overcome with fear on the same road because the unknown is overwhelming. That person prefers to stay on a straight, flat road that goes on for miles and miles. Even though that road lacks stimulation, it brings comfort because there are no unforeseen surprises looming ahead. To the one who enjoys the twists and turns, this seemingly unending stretch of road would hypnotize them with boredom.
Which Road?
I myself am a mountain road kind of gal. Life may lead you to a road you wouldn’t have chosen, but how you embrace the journey from that point on is really up to you. I choose to make the most of the road I’m on because there is always something new and exciting around the next curve…..if I keep my eyes open and look for it with expectancy.
The Unplanned Road
Many years ago, I was forced to take a road that was never supposed to be a part of my well-planned itinerary of life. I found myself unexpectedly divorced and having to start over from scratch after thirty years of marriage. There were two choices before me. I could let this difficult situation define the rest of my life and completely stop me in my tracks, or I could see this new, unplanned path as an opportunity to grab ahold of the Lord and let Him grow me through this challenging season. I chose the second option and it has been a fabulous adventure so far. He has led me up, down, and around on a wonderful road that I never would have known had I let fear and disappointment put the brakes on the rest of my life. Okay, okay…..enough of the road metaphors. I think I just crossed over the centerline on the road of life. Sorry. That’s the last one…I think.
Hope Restored
Where are you on your journey? If you feel stuck in the past or are experiencing hopelessness, I would love to share with you the lessons of hope God has shown me through the years. We all have a plan and a purpose that God has placed in each of us. He doesn’t force us to fulfill His plan for our lives but we will experience such joy and hope as we yield to His calling. This blog is a part of my calling. Sharing His Word of hope and seeing women set free from their past is a part of my calling. I desire to see women commit their lives to the Lord Jesus and let Him restore hope. Here is His promise to us-“He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.” 1 Peter 5:10
